Security Deposit and Deposit-Free

Nomad Rent a Car offers flexible security deposit systems:

International Guests:

  • Security Deposit Pre-Authorization: depending on the car, the amount of security deposit is pre-authorized (frozen) on your credit card for up to 28 days. Release is automatic.
  • Cash Security Deposit: depending on the car, the amount of security deposit is paid in cash and kept for 28 days. Past 28 days, the sum is wired back via bank transfer.
  • Card Security Deposit Payment: depending on the car, the amount of the deposit gets paid using bank card charge (+5%) and kept for 28 days. Past 28 days, the sum is wired back via bank transfer.
  • Deposit-Free: depending on the car, non-refundable deposit-free fee is paid. All related charges including but not limited to damages, traffic fines, missing fuel, extra mileage or other is paid upon vehicle return.

Guests from Russian Federation:

  • Security Deposit Pre-Authorization: deposit pre-authorization for citizens of the Russian Federation is accepted only if you have foreign bank cards issued in your name. The deposit amount is frozen for 28 days and is then automatically released back to the account. UnionPay cards are not accepted for freezing the deposit, but they can be used to pay for the car rental.
  • Cash Security Deposit: we also accept cash deposits (UAE dirhams, US dollars, and euros). The deposit is held for 28 days. After the holding period, the deposit amount is transferred in rubles to a Russian bank card at the Central Bank exchange rate on the day of transfer.
  • Transfer via SBP: the deposit can be paid via SBP transfer in rubles. The amount is converted into dirhams and held for 28 days. After the holding period, the deposit amount is transferred in rubles to a Russian bank card at the Central Bank exchange rate on the day of transfer.
  • Card Security Deposit Payment: depending on the car, the amount of the deposit gets paid using bank card charge (+5%) and kept for 28 days. Past 28 days, the sum is wired back via bank transfer.
  • Deposit-Free: depending on the car, non-refundable deposit-free fee is paid. All related charges including but not limited to damages, traffic fines, missing fuel, extra mileage or other is paid upon vehicle return.

Guests from Kazakhstan:

  • Security Deposit Pre-Authorization: depending on the car, the amount of security deposit is pre-authorized (frozen) on your credit card for up to 28 days. Release is automatic.
  • Cash Security Deposit: depending on the car, the amount of security deposit is paid in cash and kept for 28 days. Past 28 days, the sum is wired back via bank transfer.
  • Card Security Deposit Payment: depending on the car, the amount of the deposit gets paid using bank card charge (+5%) and kept for 28 days. Past 28 days, the sum is wired back via bank transfer.
  • Transfer via Kaspi Gold: the deposit can be paid via Kaspi Gold transfer in tenge. The amount is held for 28 days. After the holding period, the deposit amount is transferred back in tenge to Kaspi Gold.
  • Deposit-Free: depending on the car, non-refundable deposit-free fee is paid. All related charges including but not limited to damages, traffic fines, missing fuel, extra mileage or other is paid upon vehicle return.

 

Insurance Policy

Nomad Rent a Car provides third-party insurance coverage for all vehicles. In the event of an accident, the Renter MUST inform the company and dial police at “999” to obtain police report. Without such, insurance company does NOT cover any damages.

Affected party:

  • If you are not the one at fault according to Police Report, no charges will be made against security deposit

At fault:

  • If found at fault according to Police Report, the renter is liable to pay insurance excess amount and police fine for causing an accident (500 AED).
  • If found at fault while renting sport or luxury car, the renter is liable to pay insurance excess amount, police fine (500 AED) + 20% of total repairment invoice.
  • If the renter below 23 years old is at fault for causing an accident, he/she is liable to pay insurance excess amount, police fine (500 AED) + 20% of total repairment invoice
  • NOT covered by insurance: The costs for damages such as fire and/or breakage of glass, damages to tires and/or tire rings, damages to upholstery and/or interior, or everything that is not fixated by a Police Report are collected from the client and are not covered by insurance.

 

Toll Gates

Dubai and Abu Dhabi are the two emirates that feature road toll systems which operate without toll booths or barriers. Every car is equipped with a chipped tag that charges the fee automatically. One toll gate trip costs 7 AED and is deducted from your security deposit or paid upon return of the vehicle. You can always inquire detailed breakdown of your toll gate passings from one of Nomad team members!

 

Parking

Most of the malls and sightseeing attractions have free parking. City streets feature paid governmental parking zones. The cost for one hour varies from 2 AED to 4 AED. Such shall be paid using dirham coins via parking meters or via SMS. Instructions on payment procedures and rates are illustrated on each parking meter. Payment receipt shall be placed at the front dashboard. Always remember that non-payment or late payment for paid parking spot leads to traffic fines.

Some malls and parkings feature tag payments. In this instance the fee will be paid upon returning the vehicle directly to our staff members.

Dubai Mall Rates:

  • First 4 Hours: Free (Mon-Thu) / First 6 Hours (Fri-Sun).
  • 4-5 Hours: AED 30.
  • 5-6 Hours: AED 70 (Weekdays) / Free (Weekends).
  • 6-7 Hours: AED 90.
  • 7-8 Hours: AED 110.
  • Over 8 Hours: AED 210 (flat).
  • Over 12 Hours: AED 510.
  • Over 24 Hours: AED 1,010.

 

Navigation

Nomad Rent a Car mostly provides cars with navigation. For cars that are not equipped with GPS systems, Google Maps is the way to go! The app features offline maps option, which is useful for those who do not have local cellular data. Here is the tutorial on how to install such:

  1. Download “Google Maps” from App Store or Google Play Store
  2. Click at the profile icon at the top right corner
  3. Select “Offline Maps” option
  4. Select the range of the map you wish to download and click download button

 

Fuel

As a standard, Nomad Rent a Car has level-to-level policy. This means that customers are expected to return the car with the same fuel level as they were initially given.

Fuel cost and service charges apply if the car is returned with lesser fuel. Cars are fueled with “SPECIAL 95”. Do not step out of the car, as fuel station attendants provide the service free of charge. Payment is done using cash or card.

 

Mileage

For daily rentals, mileage limit is set to 300 KM per day. Sport, luxury and exclusive vehicles are capped at 250 KM per day. Every additional kilometer is subject to extra charges. In the event if you are planning to make longer trips, we always recommend hiring for 2 or more days to avail greater mileage reserve. Child Seats

Children up to four years of age must be provided with a child safety seat. Violators will be fined AED 400. The front seat passenger should also be at least 145 cm tall and not younger than 10 years old. Nomad Rent a Car provides child safety seats and boosters for additional fee. Ensure to warn one of our staff members in advance to get the seat reserved.

 

Speed Limits and Traffic Fines

Sticking to speed limits indicated on signs is the best way to navigate around the U.A.E in order to avoid traffic violations. All the roads are monitored with the use of speed radars and cameras. If you were issued a traffic fine, you will be notified prior to any charges against the security deposit.

Speed limits in the city vary between 60 km/h to 100 km/h depending on the area. You will be seeing speed limit signs from both sides along all roads.

Highway speed limit is capped at 110-120 km/h. You will be seeing speed limit signs from both sides along all roads.

Additionally, it is essential to remember:

  • Wear seatbelts at all times
  • Use of mobile phones while driving is strictly prohibited
  • No tailgating
  • Line discipline is essential (no cutting, sudden swerving or other)
